The Elves and the Shoemaker

As the clock chimes midnight, singing to themselves, there appear with toolbags, two small elves.

Tip tap here, tip tap there, working in their underwear!

Today I read The Elves and the Shoemaker, a book in the ready to read level 2. This story is that  old craftman called Shoemaker Joe was gradually very poor.  Joe cut a piece of  leather, enough for one small pair, early the next morning the shoes were finished by two small elves. The shoes made by two elves sold quickly. Joe and his wife Flo made two elves clothes because they with no clothes. Finally the elves went away, but Joe and Flobwere rich, so it was all ok.
